Rare original antique print from an 1870s illustrated journal. It depicts several views of the third Wimpbleton Championship in tennis (then calleed lawn tennis). On the back of the print is an article about the competitions. The top image shows JT Hartley of Yorkshire defeating Irish Champion Vere St. Leger Goold.

The Championships, Wimbledon, commonly known simply as Wimbledon or The Championships, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and is widely regarded as the most prestigious. It has been held at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London, since 1877.

The second place Vere Goold later became infamous as the villain in a 1907 murder/theft in Monte Carlo, along with his wife Marie.

The print is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 11 x 15 inches (28 x 38 cm). The picture fills most of it, measuring about 9 x 13 inches, with a caption below it.

The page is in excellent condition for its age.
There is text/photos on the back of the print. See scan for an accurate view of the condition.
