General information on arts & crafts embroidering is included with the photos.

In the early 1900s, almost every linen item in the household - as well as many items of clothing - were likely to have some type of handstitched decoration.  Besides the detailed work done on the front of the piece to be displayed, attention to detail by the embroiderer is usually evident in the way the stitches are finished on the back side of the piece.

This off-white/tan fabric (probably a lightweight linen or cotton) drawstring bag or purse is hand-embroidered with a bright red design & has a wide ribbon drawstring top.  It is lined with an off-white satiny fabric.

The bag is about 9-1/4 inches tall & 11-1/4 inches wide.

It is in good antique condition with no holes or tears.

Ships USPS.
