Description

A truly beautiful, early 1900s mantel or bracket clock made by Winterhalder & Hoffmeier for retail by Mappin & Webb. The clock in George III style and featuring triple train, quarter chiming movement. Offered in good working order with winding key, pendulum and key for the backdoor.

The 8 day clock keeps good time and chimes the quarter hours on four coiled gongs (Westminster/Big Ben chime). On the hour, after playing the whole Westminster tune, the clock strikes the number of hours on a fifth gong.

The fine mahogany case with arched top and elegant ogee shaped detailing. Stands on four solid brass bun feet with cast brass bezel and convex glass. Gently convex silvered dial and original spade shaped hands.

Weighs 9.5kg before wrapping. The clock stands 15.75" (40cm) high, 12" (30.5cm) wide and 7" (18cm) deep. The large dial is 8.5" in diameter.
