This was brought to me with some cosmetic damage to one of the speaker covers. (Quick edit here: I'm an IT repair person with over 20 years of hands-on experience). I took the unit apart, removed and repaired the damaged piece, and reinstalled it. Nothing was done to the electronics, other than a simple cleaning of the surfaces that I didn't have to disassemble the entire board to get to. All buttons and switches work as expected. Speakers work with no crackle, even at max volume. The included power supply is NOT the original, but is the exact size, wattage and voltage for the device.
I spent a few days with this keyboard. It plays quite well, despite the small keys. As many keys as you press down at one time will sound. There's no dead space after 4-8 simultaneous key presses. This would make an excellent INTERMEDIATE child's keyboard, or a good learning keyboard for a younger teen. There are several preset songs, tempos, and instruments. It also has a built-in metronome!!!! (What I would have given for that feature on my first keyboard...) Now for the bad: The keys are too small for serious play by an adult with adult-sized hands. While the sound is crisp and clear, the piano barely sounds like a piano. The same can be said about many of the other instruments. It's passable, but, not professional quality by any means. It's lightweight, not too large for a teen's lap, and has both a MIDI port for sound system connectivity, and a 3.5mm (regular small headphone) HEADPHONE PORT for parents' sanity... or for connecting to external speakers if sanity no longer is a factor.
PLEASE NOTE
There are a few minor marks here and there on this keyboard. No major scratches or gouges, just some surface marks. The right speaker cover still has a very small indentation at the inside corner. You have to be at an angle to see it.
