Vierge présentant Jésus a Saint Françoise d’Assise

Peinture non écaillée et bien adhérente

Sauf angle bas droit et manque sur angle haut droit et gauche.

L’iconographie de la scène est liée à saint François d’Assise qui, dans une vision, reçoit l’Enfant Jésus des mains de la Vierge. 

Celle-ci est facilement identifiable grâce à ses couleurs habituelles, la robe rouge et le manteau bleu. 

Saint François porte l’habit des Capucins, maintenu par une cordelière, tunique brune avec le sacré capuce taillé en pointe. Ce vêtement et ceinture traditionnels est adopté par St. François pour son ordre des frères mineurs, les Franciscains créé en 1210.

L’ange tenant une couronne de fleur, symbole de la gloire, la puissance et l’éternité est typique des représentations de cette époque.

The iconography of the scene is linked to Saint Francis of Assisi who, in a vision, receives the Child Jesus from the hands of the Virgin.

This is easily identifiable thanks to its usual colors, the red dress and the blue coat.

Saint Francis wears the habit of the Capuchins, held together by a cord, a brown tunic with the sacred capuce cut into a point. This traditional garment and belt was adopted by St. Francis for his order of Friars Minor, the Franciscans established in 1210.

The angel holding a flower crown, symbol of glory, power and eternity is typical of representations of this era.
