This clever tin Volkswagen was made by Taiyo in Japan in the 1960's. Its brilliant and simple design makes it impossible to drive off a table or run into anything. It makes it seem to be running on computerized sensors, but it is just a mechanical sensor ahead of the front wheels.

Colored lights in the rear window flash as it moves. The car works perfectly, though it has not been restored. There is some rust in one spot showing through the paint on the roof, and three of the hubcaps are missing. I replaced them with photographs of the remaining hubcap. It will come with new batteries.
