Framed Ruth Faktor (Faktorowicz) Hand Glazed Modernist Ceramic Wall Art: As Is

This vintage, dramatic, modernist original art was sculpted by famed Israeli sculptor and ceramicist Ruth Faktor (Faktorowicz). This stunning, textural piece features three abstract women and a dog, sculpted out of clay in glazed, muted, earthen and blue tones. The art is signed “J Ruth” in the lower right corner. This is a substantial piece that weighs 4 pounds 4.4 ounces. The artwork itself measures 14 ½” across by 9 1/8” high, and the frame measures 19” across by 13 ½” high by 1 ½” wide. That’s the good news. The not-so-good news is that there is a diagonal crack in the artwork from top to bottom, and a small piece of clay is missing at the top of the crack, and a tiny chip is missing on the finger of the middle woman. However, because of the terra cotta tones of the overall work, it’s hard to notice that missing piece on the top, as well as the overall imperfection from a distance. This is an older piece, so the frame has some age-appropriate wear as well.

This is a wonderful example of Ruth Faktor’s expressive sculptural and conceptual talent, and although imperfect, it would still make a striking addition to any room.
