Morris Minor 1000 DL

"Ivy" - Is named after her original Owner (Ivy Cheason of Sittingbourne) who purchased the car on the 18th September 1970 for £794.13s.7d (inclusive of Road tax, Front seatbelts and a complete underseal ) and used it as her daily driver until she stopped driving in 1998, having completed 102,000 miles.  At that point Ms Cheason's family sold the vehicle and it underwent an extensive restoration by AWC Minors of Flintshire. The vehicle has done only 30,000 miles since.

The vehicle comes with a comprehensive history and was featured in an article in "Minor Monthly" Magazine - April 99 (Shown in the photos) which provides details of the vehicles history and the restoration works undertaken.

I purchased the car from a friend in 2014 and have since used it for fair weather drives and trips to occasional shows - but it has only covered around 1100 miles since I bought it. The car has been garaged since at least August 2009 and the V5 (which is present and in my name) confirms only 4 previous owners.

During my ownership the vehicle has required little more than the usual maintenance and fluid changes.  In addition the following works have been undertaken. New windscreen washer bottle and hose (January 2015). Some welding to nearside front suspension mounting/wheel arch (June 2015), a new rear shock absorber (June 2015), new quarterlight rubbers and door mirrors (June 2016), new radiator and hoses (July 2016), engine cleaned and repainted (July 2016), air cleaner holder repainted and new filter (August 2016), new passenger side front indicator (August 2018) new battery (December 2018) which has been maintained on an Optimate trickle charger (not included),  new drivers side front indicator (January 2019), replacement thermostat gasket (May 2024).

"Ivy" is an older restoration that starts easily and is in very presentable condition.  But she is 54 years old and not a concours restoration.

Upon restoration the passenger seat was swapped for a folding variant - as fitted to pre 62 models (to make access to the rear easier). It's an effective arrangement although the vinyl covering is a slightly different colour.  The paintwork is pretty good but close examination reveals some shading/fading along with the minor scratches and imperfections that should be expected on a vehicle of this age. Seat belts were fitted (to the front) when new. The doors have dropped slightly on their hinges but still open/close and latch so it hasn't been a problem. The Firestone tyres are all legal but the front ones will need to be changed shortly so keep this in mind when bidding (Blockley tyres seem quite popular within the owners club at the moment but other options are available to order)

Registered with DVLA as an historic vehicle, so MOT and Road Tax exempt

Matching Chassis/Engine numbers. Original (transferable) Registration Number.

The vehicle will be supplied with:

1. Lever arch file which includes the original Bill of Sale,  A copy of AWC minors advert for the vehicle (post restoration) and a vast number of invoices documenting the routine servicing, repairs and maintenance carried out over the last 53 years

2. The original Morris Minor Workshop manual

3. The Morris Minor illustrated servicing guide by DVW Francis

4. The Haynes Owners Workshop Manual

5. The Haynes Morris Minor Restoration Manual

6. A selection of spares/service items (some used) including plugs, points, distributor head, original paper oil filter housing (It now uses a cartridge filter) etc

7. Orignal jack and cranking handle

Would make an ideal (drive and restore) first step into classic car ownership.

Reluctant and genuine reason for sale (due to forthcoming house purchase)

Potential buyers are encouraged to inspect the vehicle (by prior arrangement at CH63) prior to bidding but no test drives will be permitted.  I've endeavoured to describe the vehicle fairly. The photos supplied are just as they came off my iPhone (and haven't been enhanced) but due to the vehicles age it is sold as seen and no warranty is provided.

I have set a realistic (undisclosed) reserve and the auction will run until the end.  There is no "Buy it Now" price.

Please remember you are bidding to buy and not waste everyone's time. Payment by Bank Transfer only (Sorry - No Cash, No Paypal).  The vehicle will not be released until cleared funds have been received in my account.  The successful buyer is to collect the vehicle (From CH63 ) within 7 days of the auction ending.
