I’ve used this indestructible Astron linear power supply for several years with my VHF/UHF base station. This is from Astron’s slim line, so you get all the amperage for half the size of the RS series.

It powers mobile radios by the big three Japanese manufacturers handily. Linear supplies give you an extra clean RF signal. Takes a standard three-prong computer power cord. This is an excellent power supply for a beginner.
