A typical ground loop humming problem occurs:

• When you connect your computer sound card to a stereo receiver which is connected to a Cable TV wall plug.
• When you plug your VCR into your stereo system
• When you plug your TV into your stereo system
• When you plug your Cable Modem into your computer that is plugged into a stereo system

RCA type Audio Ground Loop Isolators often cause "pops" (In some cases you can literally see the cones on your subwoofers jump HARD when this happens) when you adjust the volume from zero. These pops can damage your system and speakers. This happens if you use a RCA type Audio Ground Loop Isolator between your pre-amp and your amp (or your PC and your home theater if you use the PC to control the volume).
