This bronze helmet is hand hammerd from a single sheet of bronze. There are four feathers and a red horse hair crest. This helmet is a reproduction of a helmet from Naples Italy. The helmet weighs aprox. Two pounds. The samnites were a rouged enemy of the Romans who lived south of Rome in the mountains . There were three samnite wars before these tough resourceful people were subdued and eventually absorbed into the growing roman republic. I , to my knowledge am the only person hand hammering these helmets from one sheet of bronze. There are no welds on this helmet. The crest holder is cast bronze .
