PATROLLING THE LINE - Hawker Hurricane Painting by Stephen Brown
504 Squadron had been re-equipped with the Hawker Hurricane in 1938 and were part of the British Expeditionary Force in France during May 1940, where they sustained quite severe casualties. After evacuation they were re-equipped with new aircraft and later in September the squadron moved to the south east to take part in the latter stages of the Battle of Britain.
