Vintage 1970s Missoni Black and White Graphic Knit Cardigan and Shell
Missoni has its roots in a small knitting business started in Italy in 1953. In the early 1960s the company developed the designs that made them famous – flame stitches, wavy lines, and zigzags were soon associated with the Missoni name. Since then, the Missoni name has been synonymous with form and function clothing solidifying their imprint on the fashion world.
If you’re looking for a show stopping print you can never go wrong with classic Missoni. This set is an amazing example of Missoni’s late 1970s knit wear and their eye catching graphic prints. This twin set is made of 100% rayon. The black and white sound wave graphic makes for a wonderful take on Missoni’s ubiquitous zigzag knit patterns of the 1960s and 1970s. The tops, bottoms, and arm holes of both the sweater and shell are edged in a navy and pink stipe giving a soft feminine touch to the edgier design. The lightweight fabric and shell only option make this an excellent piece for spring and summer and the black and white neutrality of the design along with the sweater for warmth also make this piece transitional for fall and even winter in certain climates. The sweater has 6 original buttons, the bottom button appears to be a replacement, and is excellent vintage condition with no apparent stains or runs in the knit. Fits a size: S (US)
