When fitting Fretnotes it is essential to make sure that the fretboard is completely free of dirt, dust, fingerprints and any oil or polish, ideally by cleaning with isopropyl alcohol (the type that's used to clean the skin before injections). It is especially important to clean the edges of the fretboard where the labels wrap around. The best way we have found to do this is these alcohol wipes, so we offer this convenient pack of 4 wipes as a service to Fretnote customers, to be included with your order.

Q. Why don't you just include them with the Fretnotes labels?
A. Many people will already have something similar, and shipping rates and regulations mean that, especially for overseas buyers, the additional postage charges cost much more than buying the wipes locally. But if you want the convenience of having them included with your Fretnotes, here they are!
Q. Will the alcohol damage the guitar?
A. We have tried them on a variety of finishes, with no damage. The choice of whether to use them or not is yours, though, as the conditions of use are not in our control. If you have any doubts or concerns please ask us before using them. To put this in context, Gibson recommend using wire wool to clean their rosewood fretboards, so a one-off use of a little alcohol probably isn't going to damage anything....
Q. Why are they so expensive!
A. We don't sell enough to be competitive - if you want larger quantities these are available from many volume sellers on eBay at a much better price! We really don't mind where you buy them as long as you use them! The international P&P covers the change in the nature of the package from letter rates to parcel rates when the wipes are included.
