Hey folks,

We're a small studio/workshop that specializes in electro-mechanical keyboards.
Our main tech was unhappy with the available options for tone bar grommets.
So we set out to find a better one....and ended up working with an American small rubber part manufacturer to make something better.

This is the result:
  • Our grommets are medium density cast rubber with very high consistency and isolation.
  • They're made to fit the tone bar, screw and spring assembly very precisely.

*Some Rhodes are made with fully threaded screws, others with a more conventional bugle head. Our grommets fit snuggly with both screw types.
This allows the owner to replace stripped screws with standard 1 1/2" #8 stainless steel screw. You can find these at nearly every hardware store.

And remember, the best screws for your Rhodes are the existing screws! There is no reason to swap screws if your screws are in good condition.
  • They are thicker and also have a wider flat flange on top for longer life and even pressure distribution.
  • Although to be fair they do take a little more time and effort to install as they don't just slip on.
  • But we feel the added stability and isolation is worth it.
  • Higher quality, using more raw material in a better shape and costing the same or less as other options.

We're proud to be the only supplier who sells these grommets.

We added a couple extra photos for this 88-key listing that demonstrate the difference between old/worn grommets which have lost their shape and our new grommets.
You can see that some of the original grommets NEVER held up to the pressure from the tone bar and spring - even when they were first put on.
In contrast, the photos with "A's" and "X's" show our grommets fully installed in the lower register and keeping their shape perfectly.
And most importantly they help a Rhodes to sound great!

Thanks for looking and let us know if you have any questions.

Avion Studios has been a regional tech for Pianos and Electro-mechanical keyboards for over a decade.
We love these instruments and want to help preserve them for future generations.
We try to keep costs down while providing the best materials and knowledge to keep the world's keyboards in service.

Inserting videos has been a little difficult recently but hopefully this link will work for awhile. Here's the first part of our two part series on rubber grommets which demonstrates both installation, regulation and the benefits in sound quality.
