Cedrorana “Tornillo” (Botanical:
Cedrelinga catenaeformis)
Tornillo Characteristics
Easy to work with hand tools and
machines. Sharp hand tools produce the
best finish due its low density and interlocked grain that can leave fuzz when
machined. The grain is straight to
slightly interlocked, has a coarse uniform texture with a moderate natural
luster.
Color Range
Heartwood is light to golden
brown. Very large open pores also give a
pronounced veined look to face-grain surface.
Sapwood is not often seen, and the paler color gradually transitions
into darker heartwood.
