Recognized for a time by the Guinness Book of Records as the World's Hottest Chilli. It was developed and cultivated by a company called GNS Spices of Southern California. The Red Savina Habanero is a member of c. chinese and was developed from a mutant red pepper that was found in a field growing only orange Habaneros in 1989. One red fruited plant among all the orange ones was regarded as rather odd. The seeds from this single red poded plant were grown, then through a program of selective breeding, the Red Savina strain was born. In 1994, the Red Savina had set a world record for heat at 577,000 Scoville unitsThey are very easy to grow & easy to maintain. Except winter, they will produce chillies all the year round. Best time to sow seeds after frost.  Seeds need min 20°C to germinate. Soak the seeds in water for a few hours before planting and sow them in a sunny, well-drained position. Germinate in 2 weeks. If this plant survives frost then it will last 2/3 years & will produce chillies continuously.
