This listing is for a lovely antique Mt. Washington Crown Milano Art Glass Egg shaped Muffineer or Sugar Shaker with pewter top, c. 1880's.
Measures 4 1/4" high and 3 1/4" in diameter.
This stunning sugar shaker has a egg shaped body decorated with an all-over floral design enameled with white jeweled petals in relief, yellow centers and light green leaves against a peach blow background. The shaker has a satin finish texture typical of Crown Milano pieces. Pewter top fits perfectly and is decorated with star pattern holes.
The piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There are some dark areas around the rim where the lid fits which we have not tried to clean (see photos). No other noted flaws.
Originally called "Albertine", the patent for this Art Glass was issued in 1893. The name was later changed in the Mt. Washington factory records to "Crown Milano". The early examples of this glass originally had a paper label with some of the later pieces marked with the "C M" monogram.
