Ilco 01198c a/k/a 1198C key blank. NOS New Old Stock from the 1930's. Fits 1934-1935 Cadillacs and La Salles. Also fits 1934 Oldsmobiles.
Very ornate front and back with fine detailing rarely seen today. Front reads: Independent Lock Co, Fitchburg Mass, Patented. Back reads: 01198C, Made in USA.
The back side has a lot of room for custom stamping or engraving. Over 80 years old, these gorgeous key blanks are made out of nickel-silver which resembles sterling silver. Nickel-silver also called German silver. Nickel silver
is stronger and more expensive than brass. And, it doesn't tarnish as much as brass. Back then manufacturers chose nickel-silver over brass for higher quality
items like these stunning key blanks.
These key blanks look like they're pre-cut, but they are not cut. They are notched to make cutting faster and easier. They cut just like any other double bitted key.
Since these are fully compatible with Basco Groove 13 I'm sure they fit more vehicles than listed. Perfect for your antique truck or car! These were made in the
USA in the 1930's and they look gorgeous!
