The Veve Medals are tiny versions of our original larger veve charms, much like a small Catholic saints medal. An extremely detailed veve is in raised relief centered within an oval frame and antiqued to bring out the contrast. These medals are cast in solid sterling silver, bronze, or 14k gold, and are thick and durable. The back side shows a star with Black Water Siren printed within.

The medal oval is 13mm by 10mm and 2mm thick, or about 3/4″ wide by 1-3/16″ long including bail, and a little over 1/16″ thick.

Damballah, the Eastern Light (Sun), is the Creator of the universe. The sign of Damballah, also known as Papa Damballah, is the twin serpent. Damballah is “The Great Master”, the creator of the cosmos. Damballah is one of the most important of all the Loa. Damballa is the Sky Father and the primordial creator of all life. He rules the mind, intellect, and cosmic equilibrium. Damballah, as the serpent spirit and “The Great Master”, created the cosmos by using his 7,000 coils to form the stars and the planets in the heavens and to shape the hills and valleys on earth. By shedding the serpent skin, Damballa created all the waters on the earth.

Damballah, the patriarchal serpent divinity, is an ancient water spirit associated with rain, wisdom, and fertility. Damballah is usually entwined with his wife Ayida Wedo, the rainbow. Damballah is often represented as St. Patrick (who mastered the serpents of Ireland), and sometimes as the patriarchal Moses holding the Ten Commandments. In many temples, a permanent basin of water is maintained for the Loa. Many representations include Damballah’s main sacrificial food—an egg, the symbol of fertility and life.

Catholic counterpart: St. Patrick (who drove the snakes out of Ireland). Sometimes also associated with Moses, whose staff transformed into a snake to prove the power of God over that wielded by Egyptian priests.

Domestic standard shipping is USPS First Class with Delivery Confirmation within the USA - please note that, depending on the speed of the US Postal Service, a standard First Class package can take up to a week to get from coast to coast, and processing/delivery time is entirely the responsibility of the US Postal Service once it leaves our hands. You may choose USPS Priority shipping if you need your item sooner.

Standard USPS First Class International USPS for outside of the USA - Please note that is you live outside the USA it may take several weeks for your package to arrive. What goes into our Shipping & Handling amount? First, there are numerous hours of labor and time involved taking multiple photographs of each piece of jewelry, choosing and processing the best photos for the internet, writing the detailed descriptions for each piece, and listing each item on eBay, which also includes paying substantial seller fees. Then there are the tangible costs of the packaging materials, the labor/time to package each item for shipment, and the actual cost of the postage itself.

We accept PayPal as well as other standard pre-approved methods. Please email if you wish to arrange alternative payment for your purchase. We combine listing purchases for five days only. If you need to arrange alternative payment, please contact us. Payment is required within seven days of listing's end. In accordance with eBay's policy, any unpaid purchases after seven days may be relisted and an unpaid item dispute may be filed. Just as a painter may produce ten original watercolors of the same scene, each painting will have its own unique features and its own "personality". It is the same with the One Of A Kind jewelry created in our studio. While we may present similar designs in shape, size, and theme, each finished piece will be unique in its overall appearance, physical placement of components, color and characteristics of the stones, beads, and other focal points chosen to complete each rendition. Black Water Siren Studio fully guarantees our jewelry and will repair any defect in workmanship.

Gold-Filled: A layer of 14k gold is penetrated and fused into the surface of a base metal, usually brass, to give the look of gold without the cost. Gold-filled greatly differs from gold-plating (where the gold is painted onto the surface and can peel). Gold-filled is actually absorbed, blended, and fused into the surface creating a longer-lasting and durable finish.

Silver-Filled, like gold-filled, consists of sterling silver fused into the surface of a brass substrate. The silver used for the bonding process is sterling silver.
