Welcome to Antiques & Moore!

THIS LISTING IS FOR A NICE VINTAGE CLASSIC STEUBEN CRYSTAL MID-CENTURY ART GLASS ASHTRAY, #7836.

The ashtray was designed by George Thompson for Steuben in the late 1930's-early 1940's. This nice ashtray has beautiful clarity in the crystal and the design features a thick bowl with sides that taper downward toward the center of the "heart" with an attached crimped cigarette holder at that point. Most of the Steuben ashtrays from this period are round and this shape is one of the harder-to-find designs.

The ashtray is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs although there are some very minor surface scratches on the base from normal use (see photos). No other noted flaws.  Signed with etched "Steuben" signature on bottom.

Measures 2 1/8" high (at highest) and 5 1/4" wide. Weighs just under two pounds.

In late November, 2011, Steuben in Corning New York closed it's doors. The fine crystal produced there is now only available on the secondary market and some of their early pieces are highly sought after. Any piece of Steuben crystal is a work of art!
