Laurus nobilis
BAY LAUREL
Poncirus trifoliata
BITTER ORANGE

Description

Poncirus trifoliata is an unusual shrub related to citrus, but extremely cold tolerant (fully hardy in the UK). Under warm climate, often used as the rootstock for grafting different citrus varieties due to its strong growh and cold tolerance. It opens its white scented flowers in March-April, before the leaves appear and from September, 4-5 cm large yellow, limon-like fruits develop (stronger than a lemon; suitable for marmalade or for tea). Leaves turn bright yellow in Autumn. The plant is covered in large spines, and the stems stay green for several years, which gives a spectacular architectural appearance to the plant during the winter months. Fast growing and drought tolerant, but grows much slower in shallow, bonsai-pot containers plus does not mind to be trimmed - ideal for bonsai, for the garden or for a low hedge-barrier.
Laurus nobilis is the well known bay tree with dark green, highly aromatic leaves, used as a spice and a very ornamental plant with yellow flowers in Spring and black fruits in the Autumn (in conservatory conditions).
Eriobotrya has juicy, apricot-like fruits with hundreds of cultivars in China and Japan and is widely produced in the Far-East and in Mediterranean and subtropical regions. An evergreen, very ornamental small tree with long, dark green, leathery leaves and yellow-white flowers, open on the tip of the branches In Winter - the flowers may be pollinated even when it is cold if not frosty but for the succulent, sweet fruits to develop, it requires almost frost free environment from February to May. It is best to plant by a wall in Britain or can be kept in a larger conservatory. The flowers have the most sweetly scent one can imagine. The tree itself is hardy to about -10C, but it depends on watering and origine of plants as well.

Packaging and Postage

When sending plants, it is extremely important to pack them as securely as possible, therefore we don't use stuffing. Instead we have developed a unique packaging method which makes plant movement virtually impossible in the parcel. Each pot is wrapped, therefore the compost is securely locked during transit and the roots won't be disturbed. Your item will arrive in perfect condition to your door.

In almost all circumstances, we use royal mail 24h or 48h service to send your parcel with the delivery aim of 1-2 days in the UK (please note that this is not a guaranteed next day service); or royal mail International Tracked and Signed to overseas. You have the option for signed for and guaranteed next day delivery. Royal Mail has length limitations for small parcels, it cannot exceed 60cm. Sometimes, we may use a fully tracked service which requires a signature upon delivery. Please expect some delay around Bank Holidays.

We combine postage whenever possible. If you order more than one item, please always ask for an invoice if ebay does not automatically calculate the combined postage.

If you have any questions or you find anything not as expected about your received order, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will do our utmost to help.

It is important to us to care about the environment, so our plants are grown in reusable plastic pots and we pack our plants in recyclable cardboard boxes.

About Us

We are a family run nursery, founded in 2008, growing rare and exotic hardy or half-hardy trees and shrubs, and offering them as young plants. Our nursery is based in North Wales, in the Vale of Clwyd which provides relative warmth in Summer for a good growth, but also enough rain and cold in Winter to help adapt our plants to average UK climate.

We propagate and grow all of our stock on site from seed or cutting; we take care of our plants from their very first days of life. All purchased plants will be freshly hand picked form our nursery on the very day of dispatch. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask, we usually respond on the same day.
