This listing is for a gorgeous 19th Century French bronze pin tray with Sevres porcelain hand painted insert, c. 1880.
This lovely pin tray features a large center porcelain insert in the top with hand painted scene of children carrying baskets and gathering fruit inside a medallion surrounded with beaded gilt band and with gild decoration on each end with a burgundy background. Although the painting is unsigned, the painting has fine details and the children are adorable. This porcelain insert has all the characteristics of Sevres French porcelain and could possibly be signed on the back, however, we did not remove it from the mounting.
The bronze surround has nice incised pattern around the body with stylized shells at the four top corners and sigs on four block feet. The bottom has a bronze protective plate in place.
Measures 6 3/4" long (at feet), 3" wide (at feet) and long and almost 1 1/4" high (at corners). Weighs 14 ounces.
This lovely pin tray is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs reflecting minimal signs of normal use commensurate with age.
