Very rare, Antique - NOS New Old Stock, Yale & Towne #88 and #188 equivalent key blanks. These gorgeous key blanks read
Independent Lock Co, Fitchburg Mass on the front. The reverse reads Made in U.S.A.. Made about the late 1800's.
Compatible with Yale padlock #88, #H853, #863, and others. I only have a few of these gems. Get them while you can!
Measures: 2 1/4" tip to end of bow, keyway is 5/16" wide, 1 5/16" long, 2.10mm thick, the bow is 1" wide. See photo for detailed measurements.
Made out of nickel-silver also called German silver. Nickel silver is stronger and more expensive than brass. And, it doesn't tarnish as much as
brass. Back then, manufacturers chose nickel-silver over brass for higher quality items like these antique key blanks. Made in the USA.
These were part of an enormous antique Dallas locksmith collection with items dating back to the early 1800's.
