Live Tropical Aquarium Fish Tank Aquatic Plants For Sale - Freshwater Plants

Item Description

Please choose your desired live tropical freshwater aquatic plant:

Hygrophila polysperma

Size: 25-40 cm tall

Temperature: 4-35 °C

pH: 5.0 - 8.0

Ease of Care: Easy; Beginner

Pot Included: 5cm

This is one of the hardiest and undemanding aquarium plants. This is a great background plant because it will grow in almost any condition and quickly removes excess nutrients from the water and competes with algae. It will grow under any lighting; though in less intense lighting it will grow slower and leaves will be smaller. The aquarium water hardness does not have any influence over growth and this plant will not require any CO2 injection.

Hygrophila difformis "Wisteria"

Size: 20-50 cm tall

Temperature: 22-28 °C

pH: 6.5 ? 7.5

Ease of Care: Easy

Pot Included: 5cm

Hygrophila difformis, often called water Wisteria, grows well in medium lit aquariums; although, higher light wattage will encourage faster growth. For the fastest growth of the aquatic plant, make sure it has high lighting, CO2 and added nitrate & phosphate. The speed of growth of this plant makes it a great choice for newly planted tanks ? it will absorb excess nutrients and compete with algae. Water hardness and pH are unimportant, and growth is equally as impressive in aquariums without CO2 supplementation. Due to its potentially large size, H. difformis is inappropriate for aquascapes in smaller tanks.

Ludwigia repens diamond red

Size: 20-50 cm tall

Temperature: 22-28 °C

pH: 5.0 - 8.0

Ease of Care: Easy

Pot Included: 5cm

Ludwigia repens are one of the more easy red plants to grow in an aquarium. They are able to grow in low light conditions but to encourage deeper red colouration the lighting should be kept brighter. Smaller nitrate levels, high phosphate levels and heavy iron/micronutrients dosing will help produce more intense colours of this plant.

Cryptocoryne balansae

Size: Can reach up to 60 cm in length & 2.50 cm in width

Temperature: 24-28 °C

pH: 6.5 ? 7.5

Ease of Care: Moderate

Pot Included: 5cm

This aquatic plant requires moderate levels of lighting and regular water column fertilization. You should use lights that have full spectrum (5000-7000K) bulbs for up to 11 hours every day. The tank should have a nutrient-rich substrate (preferably sand or fine gravel) with plenty of nitrate, phosphate, iron and calcium supplementation. Calcium deficiency causes new leaves to grow twisted and deformed. When exposed to low temperatures (around 18 degrees Celsius), it will grow slowly and will not reach the maximum size.

Vallisneria spiralis

Size: 30-50 cm long, 1-2 cm wide

Temperature: 17-28 °C

pH: 6.5 ? 8.5

Ease of Care: Easy

Pot Included: 5cm

Vallisneria is an easy plant to care for and is largely suitable for beginners who are getting started with their planted aquarium. It is an undemanding aquatic plant that does not require extra CO2 or fertilisers, but it will not grow well in low lighting. While Vallisneria prefers slightly harder water with a higher pH, it will grow just fine in any water conditions. This plant absorbs nutrients through its roots and needs a sand or fine gravel substrate to stay anchored down.

Limnophila sessiliflora ?Ambulia?

Size: 15-30 cm long, 3-4 cm wide

Temperature: 22-28 °C

pH: 5.5 ? 8.0

Ease of Care: Easy

Pot Included: 5cm

Limnophila sessiliflora is a very adaptable aquarium plant that can withstand a wide range of water conditions. This plant will make a great, undemanding addition to many different aquarium set-ups and does best in lower lighting conditions. Adding CO2 will help to produce the most attractive growth. Higher lighting and a lot of micronutrient supplementation will cause this plant to develop red coloured hues on the top.

Echinodorus paniculatus

Size: 30-50cm

Temperature: 22-28 °C

pH: 6.0 ? 8.0

Ease of Care: Easy

Pot Included: 5cm

Echinodorus paniculatus, often called the Amazon sword, is easy to care for and is a great plant for beginners. It is advised that this aquatic plant be planted in a loose substrate, small grain gravel or speciality planting substrates are the best choices. Amazon sword plants thrive when given doses of iron rich fertiliser weekly after water changes and without adding CO2 to the aquarium water. This plant will benefit from having a high quality LED light but do not provide too much light, as the leaves are susceptible to algae growth. Any algae build-up on the leaves should be very gently wiped away during water changes.

Anubias barteri

Size: 25-45cm Tall

Temperature: 22-28 °C

pH: 5.5 ? 8.0

Ease of Care: Easy

Pot Included: 5cm

Anubias barteri var. barteri is an extremely tolerant aquarium plant even in poor growing conditions. It can grow in very low lighting and no CO2 injection, but more lighting and CO2 supplementation will promote faster and larger growth. Make sure there is a good water flow over this plant?s leaves; especially if you have high lighting. Water pH and hardness are not too important to this aquatic plant species.

Anubias nana

Size: 5-15 cm Tall

Temperature: 22-28 °C

pH: 6.0 ? 7.5

Ease of Care: Easy

Pot Included: 5cm

Anubias nana prefers an aquarium with moderate to low lighting conditions. When placed under high lighting conditions, leaves will grow very quickly, but they will become more compact and susceptible to algae growth. Fertilisation and CO2 are not necessary but if you want your plant to grow faster, additional CO2 will help.

Cryptocoryne Beckettii

Size: 10-15cm

Temperature: 24-26 °C

pH: 6.0 ? 7.3

Ease of Care: Easy

Pot Included: 5cm

These plants require at least 0.25 watts per litre, coupled with a low CO2 requirement making them very easy to care for. This plant can be cultivated in wet substrates rich in nutrients ? in this condition it is known to flower. We recommend spraying this plant daily with water.

Microsorum pteropus "Java fern"

Size: 20-35cm tall; 5-15cm wide

Temperature: 15-28 °C

pH: 6.0 ? 8.0

Ease of Care: Easy

Pot Included: 5cm

Java fern is one of the most popular aquarium plants due to its attractive green colour and its ease of care. In fact, it can grow in almost any water condition or light level. Though for optimal health, water should have a pH of 6.0-8.0, hardness of 2-15 dGH. Java fern can be planted on its own or in groups if you have enough space in your aquarium. It should be planted on driftwood, rocks or directly on top of gravel; if placed on driftwood or rock, it needs to be attached with roots. These plants are well suited with large cichlids and fancy goldfish. In order to prevent a build-up of excess nutrients and waste, it is recommended to change 10-25% of your aquarium water every other week.

Cryptocoryne parva

Scientific Name: Cryptocoryne parva

Size: 10cm

Temperature: 24-26

pH: 6.0 - 7.3

Ease of Care: Medium

These plants require at least 0.50 watts per litre, however they have a low CO2 requirement.

Dwarf Hairgrass

Scientific Name: Eleocharis acicularis

Size: 7 - 15cm tall

Ideal Temperature: 10 ? 26 °C

pH: 5.5 ? 7.0

Ease of Care: Easy

This carpeting plant will make a great addition to any aquarium foreground. With the right amount of light and CO2, you can expect Dwarf Hairgrass to cover the substrate at the bottom of your tank completely within the first couple of weeks. For fish tanks with lower light and CO2, this plant will grow at a much slower rate. It is recommended to plant in small clusters throughout the tank; when it becomes over grown, you can easily trim down to encourage new growth. Avoid trimming Eleocharis acicularis until its roots are visible.

Hemianthus callitrichoides

Scientific Name: Hemianthus callitrichoides

Size: 2 - 3cm tall

Ideal Temperature: 20 - 30 °C

pH: 6.0 ? 8.0

Ease of Care: Difficult

If looked after properly, Hemianthus Callitrichoides will create a beautiful foreground carpet in your aquarium fish tank. This aquatic carpeting plant is very popular but has very high care demands. High levels of CO2 and light are needed for this plant to grow well and spread compactly across your substrate. When this happens, Hemianthus Callitrichoides produces oxygen bubbles known as 'perling'. While this plant will grow under lower light levels, growth rates will be slower and it will not form as compactly.

Pogostemon helferii

Scientific Name: Pogostemon helferii

Size: 7 ? 15 cm tall

Ideal Temperature: 22 - 30 °C

pH: 6.0 ? 7.5

Ease of Care: Medium

Pogostemon Helferi?s unusual crumpled, curly leaves make an attractive addition to an aquarium foreground. This aquatic carpeting plant will happily spread along your substrate as well as along surfaces such as aquarium wood. While this plant does not require high light levels for survival, high lighting, CO2 and nutrients will encourage more compact growth and greener colouration. If you see yellow leaves, try increasing the amount of nutrients in the water. CO2 is required under higher lighting for healthy growth.

Chladophlora ?Moss ball"

Scientific Name: Chladophlora ?Moss ball?

Size: 6-7cm in diameter

Ideal Temperature: 18-30 °C

pH: 5.0 ? 8.0

Ease of Care: Easy

Aquarium moss balls are a type of green algae known as Chladophlora, or even ?Marimo?. In an aquarium, moss balls are decorative in the foreground and midground. Before placing into your fish tank, it is recommended to rinse them under flowing water in time to remove excess detritus. Algae balls have a lot of surface area for microorganisms and great if you have shrimp.

Riccia Moss

Scientific Name: Riccia fluitans

Ideal Temperature: 18-30 °C

pH: 5.0 ? 8.0

Ease of Care: Easy

Provided in 80cc cup

Riccia fluitans is a fast-growing aquatic moss which does not require much light or co2 to grow. Tie it to any surface in your aquarium  and it will grow throughout the aquarium. This attractive carpeting moss can easily be pruned if it begins to grow out of control. This is a great low maintenance, beginner aquarium plant.

Java moss

Scientific Name: Taxiphyllum barbieri

Ideal Temperature: 18-30 °C

pH: 5.0 ? 8.0

Ease of Care: Easy

Provided in 80cc cup

Java Moss is a fast-growing plant which does not require much light and CO2. It grows happily on any surface so long as you attach it so that it does not float to the top of the fish tank. This attractive carpeting moss can easily be pruned if it begins to grow out of control. This is a great low maintenance, beginner aquarium plant.

Ludwigia palustris red

Scientific Name: Ludwigia palustris

Size: 10 ? 40 cm tall

Ideal Temperature: 20 - 28 °C

pH: 6.0 ? 8.0

Ease of Care: Easy

Ludwigia palustris red is a variety of this species named after the colour that the leaves turn when planted. This aquarium background plant is easy to keep and will tolerate a wide range of temperatures. With good levels of light and CO2, Ludwigia palustris will develop beautiful colouration and grow quicker. Each stalk of this plant will grow to become approximately 2-4cm wide and up to 40cm tall; it will create side-shoots that can be cut off and replanted.

Echinodorus ozelot green

Scientific Name: Echinodorus ozelot green

Size: 20 ? 30+ cm tall

Ideal Temperature: 22 - 28 °C

pH: 5.0 ? 8.0

Ease of Care: Easy

This variety of aquarium sword plant can grow over 30cm tall and it?s leaves can reach up to 40m wide. It is a great beginner?s plant as it is fast growing and accepts a wide range of temperatures and pH. If provided with nutrient-rich substrate, growth is even more vigorous. Echinodorus ozelot plants will grow fully submersed or emersed.

Anubias congensis

Scientific Name: Anubias congensis

Size: 7 - 20cm

Ideal Temperature: 22 - 28°C

pH: 5.0 ? 8.0

Ease of Care: Easy

For best growth, this aquatic plant species should be attached to something in the aquarium such as bogwood or rocks. Lighting demands are low, and this plant will even do better in shady areas of the tank. Suitable in tanks with or without CO2.

Ludwigia glandulosa

Scientific Name: Ludwigia glandulosa

Size: 15 ? 30+ cm tall

Ideal Temperature: 22 - 28 °C

pH: 6.5 ? 7.5

Ease of Care: Medium

The red colouration of Ludwigia glandulosa makes the perfect eye-catching midground or background plant for your aquarium. This plant species needs a high intensity of light to flourish - its vibrancy will depend on this. It will also benefit greatly from regular additions of CO2, fertiliser and trace elements. When this plant becomes overgrown, cut the branches, or the top of the plant (removing leaves), and place stem into the substrate. Ludwigia glandulosa will naturally reproduce in warmer water by developing yellow flowers above the water?s surface that drop seeds into the substrate.

Echinodorus cordifolius 'Fluitans' - Aquarium Plants - AllPondsolutions

Echinodorus cordifolius

Scientific Name: Echinodorus cordifolius

Temperature: 22-28 °C

pH: 6.5 - 7.5

Ease of Care: Easy

A comparatively fast-growing Echinodorus from Mexico, suitable for large aquariums reaching 20-50 cm long leaves and a 15-30 cm wide roset. Unlike other round-leafed varieties of the species, Echinodorus cordifolius ssp. fluitans is less likely to grow up over the water surface. If it grows large enough, it forms large leaves just under the surface instead.

Alternanthera cardinalis aquarium plant

Alternanthera cardinalis

Scientific Name: Alternanthera cardinalis

Ideal Temperature: 22 - 28°C

pH: 6.5 -8.5

Ease of Care: Difficult

It requires intensive light and the addition of CO2 to grow well and develop the red/purple leaves. If there is a lack of micro nutrients this plant will suffer and the leaves will become pale in colour.

Alternanthera Reineckii

Alternanthera reineckii

Scientific Name: Alternanthera reineckii

Ideal Temperature: 22 - 28°C

Ease of Care: Medium

Alternanthera reineckii is suitable for backgrounds in a planted aquarium. It's  generally a slow grower compared to other stem plants, and can take a certain amount of overcrowding and shading, making them very easy to use in aquascaping.
