Copper milk churn / beer barrel funnel. Dairy kitchenalia, brewania. Robert Jarvie?

Description: A finely made funnel with a hand-beaten bowl top and a seamed dovetail tube. Has a strong turned over rim handle with a hallmarked CGS monogram.

Robert R. Jarvie (American, 1865–1941) American Arts and Crafts figure used  a CGS monogram but further research is required..

The funnel is tin lined suggesting it was used for consumable liquids or water. Probable use was in the brewery industry, dairy or possibly for use with drinking water.

Provenance: Seward Kennedy (1925 - 2015). Bought at one of the auction disposals of this remarkable man’s collections. He amassed a huge eclectic array of objects over 60 years and he regarded himself as a custodian rather than collector. He travelled widely as a successful lawyer, had great discernment and bought what he liked to fill his properties in New York, Paris and London.

Condition: Excellent robust construction with no damage, tin lining intact. A pleasingly shaped funnel. In patinated condition but would polish up beautifully.
