Offered today is an extremely rare board game manufactured by Parker Brothers called "The Firing Line" ~A Game For Boys. This game is so rare that when I googled it I came up with NOTHING. I'm not kidding. Give it a shot. After asking around a bit someone sent me a link to a PDF file (see photo #3) that shows an advertisement from October 10, 1901. Other than that I can find nothing. The inside of the box top makes reference to the games "Pit" and "Rook" which were released by Parker Brothers in 1904 and 1906 respectively. So this game must have been out there at least between the years of 1901 (according to the ad) and 1906, since the box advertises a game that was released that year. This game consists of 14 red coated soldiers led by one red coated mounted commanding officer and 14 blue coated soldiers led by a blue coated mounted commanding officer. One of the blue coated soldiers is wounded and unfortunately has been taped up at the bottom. There is also some tape on the box top and bottom. There is also a blue coat who seems to have lost his head. You can see him just to the left of the commanding officer in photo #5. The blue coated mounted officer's neck has been folded and is a little wobbly, but still attached. Also, there is one red coat who is very dark and dirty looking compared to the rest. Not sure what happened there.  All the soldiers are attached to small red blocks of wood by tacks. The pop gun was apparently made to shoot a cork and is spring loaded. "This replica gun contains the colored markings required by law, including a permanently attached orange plug."-as per ebay policy. The rifle is marked on the top "PARKER BROS AIR CUSHION GUN ---SALEM, MASS---" The stock appears to be oak. Each soldier stands 6-1/8" tall X 1-3/4" wide and the mounted officers stand 7-1/4" tall X 2" wide. The box measures 22-1/2" long X 13" tall. The box is battered and a couple of the soldiers need some medical attention, but you're probably not going to see another one of these games anytime soon, so grab this one while you can and wait for the rest of your life to upgrade to a better version! Thanks for looking and Good Luck!
