Czechoslovakian born Wladimir Eric Gebauer studied at the School of Applied Arts in Brno, completed studies in Atelier in Dresden and started painting and exploring graphic arts in Paris, where he worked from 1945 to 1954.  Since his arrival in Canada in 1954, he worked as a professional graphic artist. (He painted on weekends, but in retirement his passion consumed his days.)
A member of the group, ''50 Peintres du Québec''(see picture, above) he exhibited with them in 1956 and had one of his paintings included in their catalogue.

He participated in numerous exhibitions, including a solo effort at the Foyer des Arts Eaton in Montreal in 1974. Subsequently, he continued to exhibit there for many years.  Many of his works were purchased for corporate collections in the care of the Alliance Insurance Company and The Rona Group.

His talent, and love of children led UNICEF, in 1989, to choose two of his paintings for reproduction in Holiday cards.

On a lesser note, but a note nonetheless, Wladimir made the cover of Le Flambeau, a local paper in Ville d'Anjou, along with a full-page interview and expose. See pictures, above.

The natural surroundings of St. Emilie de l'energie, where he built a house with his own artistic hands (see picture, above circa 1970) as well as other Québec venues inspired his art.

Wladimir was an earnest fly-fisher on the Cric-a-David, which ran through his backyard in Ste. Emilie de l'energie.
