The First Antiquarian booksellers’ catalog entirely devoted to the subject of the science, history and literature of psychoactive drugs.  Named one of the 100 most Influential Booksellers’ Catalogs in an exhibition held at the University of Texas Ransom Library in the early 1990s.

Gordon Wasson’s foreword, which has Never Been Reprinted, is one of his rarest publications.  He discusses the subject matter of the catalog, mentions his discovery with Albert Hofmann and Carl Ruck of the LSD-like potion used at the Eleusinian Mystery Rites of Ancient Greece, which they announced one year earlier.  He discusses drugs in society, the new term for psychedelics that he coined (“entheogens”), discusses one of his favorite books listed in the catalog: Etidorhpa (1895) and its psychedelic mushroom theme, among other things.  Approximately 1000 words. 

The compiler Michael Horowitz supplies a lengthy introduction on the subject of collecting this genre.
