These are two troy ounce .999 fine silver rounds by ASG DC. These rounds are uncirculated and in the original air-tite capsules shown. The artwork is very good. The round measures 2 inches across. These rounds were made to bring up the arguement of “Natural Born Citizen” as to the requirments to run for President of the United States of America. They are also known as “Birther Coins”. The artwork is done by Daniel Carr.
The 2016 reverse honors the Constitution’s Natural Born Citizen clause, enshrining in a wreath two quotations from our nation’s Founding Fathers: our first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court John Jay and Revolutionaly War historian David Ramsay.
In a letter penned to Geaorge Washington in 1787, Justice John Jay clearly warned Washington that the office of the Commander in Chief should never fall to any but a Natural Born Citizen.
Reinforcing Justice Jay’s view, Revolutionary War historian, Continental Congress Delegate and Untited States Senator David Ramsay, in his 1789 published work: “Dissertation on the Manner of Acquiring the Character and Privileges of a Citizen of the United States”, lays out in clear language the qualifications of a Natural Born Citizen as was universally recognized by the Founding Fathers at the time of our Republic’s formation.
Beneath the quotations, boldly declaring that “the offspring follows the father” is the emblem “Partus sequitur patrem” and following behind it is the moniker: “ A Natural Born Citizen… has two Citizen parents”. Only 2000 of these coins have been made.
