Sika®-4a Water Stop is a ready to use quick setting leak stopping liquid which is mixed with water and ordinary Portland cement to produce a paste for leak stopping against high water pressure infiltration.

Limitations

- Where high water pressures are experienced, the prepared area around the discharge tubes may need to be increased to provide a larger surface area for bonding the Sika®-4a paste.

- Setting times will be affected by ambient temperature, water and Sika®-4a temperature, supplier and age of ordinary Portland cement. Trials are recommended varying the Sika®-4a /Water dosage, temperature and type of ordinary Portland cement until the required performance is achieved.

- Use only fresh ordinary Portland cement.

- Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye protection.

- Sika®-4a Water Plug must always be over-coated with a final waterproof layer.

Surface Preparation

Remove all loose material and mechanically roughen, clean and enlarge bond area around the leak. If necessary divert the leak to discharge points formed of short lengths of plastic tube bonded into drilled holes using Sika®-4a Water Stop

Application

Use 1 part Sika®-4a to 3 parts OPC by volume. Use neat or dilute Sika®-4a with clean water to meet the severity or pressure of the leak. Maximum dilution 1 part Sika®-4a to 4 parts Water. Do not mix more product than can be placed immediately. Pour neat/diluted Sika®-4a liquid into the mixing the mixing container and add OPC. Mix quickly to a paste. Mould the Sika®-4a paste by gloved hand into a plug and place immediately into the hole, pressing firmly until the mix has set (setting time depending on dilution rate) Continue as required until entire leak has been plugged.

Where the water flow has been controlled through the discharge points apply the Sika®-1 structural waterproofing render layers up to the discharge tubes. Note: Do not apply final layer of render until discharge tubes have been removed and water infiltration has stopped.
