Ayreon is a progressive metal project created in 1994by the Dutch composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer Arjen Lucassen. Ayreon albums feature an astoundingnumber of special guest performances by musicians from world-class bands suchas Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Nightwish, Dream Theater, Opeth, Epica, Kamelot,Avantasia, Symphony X, Yes, and Genesis, to name just a few. After having beena studio-only project for over 20 years, in 2017 Ayreon played live for thefirst time ever with three critically acclaimed sold-out shows at 013 Poppodiumin Tilburg, NL. Graspop 2018 will be the first and possibly the only time tosee Ayreon live on stage at a festival show. After the 3 sold out shows in the 013 venue in TheNetherlands, Ayreon Universe is ready to headline the Marquee Stage on Friday,June 22 at Graspop Metal Meeting 2018. This first exclusive Ayreon festivalshow will be performed by the very best original Ayreon instrumentalists andvocalists, including Simone Simons and Mark Jansen from Epica, Tom Englund(Evergrey), Damian Wilson (Headspace), Tommy Karevik (Kamelot), and Anneke vanGiersbergen (VUUR). And to make things extra special: none other than Barry Hay(Golden Earring) and Arjen Lucassen himself will hit the stage as well for avery special guest performance.

The 75-minute Ayreon Universe live show at Graspopwill feature the very best tracks from the Ayreon albums, as well as two fanfavorites from Star One.
