The coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1/2oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.
The coin’s reverse depicts a starfish in colour and includes The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark. Incorporated into the design are the inscriptions AUSTRALIAN SEA LIFE II – THE REEF and STARFISH.
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the 2011 year-date on its obverse.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 10,000 of these coins.
Each coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
Each coin is housed in a display case with a stunningly illustrated coral reef shipper. When lined up with other shippers in the series, it creates an extended underwater reef scene.
