SN 4113. Made in 1931.this is one of the absolute earliest Supers out there. It would benefit from further restoration work but I got it playing and play it does. The bore feels bigger than the later Super models. On the later Supers, and other olds horns, the parts were interchangeable. Not on this horn. The drawn slides and parts are much thinner and therefore this horn is much lighter and has a very fast response. It still has compression so you could play it for quite a while. Couriously enough, my Benge CG tuning slide fits perfectly in this horn and the design is very similar if not exact. The CG slide and leadpipe were copies of the Besson Meha pre war. The fact that this is so similar makes sense as everyone was copying that horn. This horn plays very different than the later model Supers. It’s just amazing! Slides all pull (even the one at the end of the third slide) and valves work. Has decent compression and is an excellent playing horn. All caps work. All slides come out even the third valve slide and inner tuning slide. it’s had some work done to it since 1931 as shown in pictures. It’s had dents removed, a couple cracks annealed on the bell flare. Some plating loss on the valves but they don’t hang and there’s still compression. Still has a few dents nothing major. A patch on the second slide. All original caps and slide pulls. No modifications whatsoever. With all its faults, it’s a fantastic playing early Super and lowest serial number I’ve seen. Very hard to find Supers this early. According to Rob Stewart, the early Supers had a larger bore than the later ones. By the way it plays, I would say it has the larger bore. Comes with an LA Olds era case with working latches and working handle. See pictures as they are part of the description. Please ask any questions before auction ends. I am a professional full time trumpet player. I’ve had a repair shop since the late 1980s. I learned the trade from my dad. He has been in the repair business since the 1950s.

I enjoy acquiring horns, learning about them through the repair and or modification process. I play all styles of music which is why I usually have a basement/repair shop full of horns.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I’m happy to tell you exactly how any trumpet plays (at least for me). I’ve play tested all my horns on professional gigs and or rehearsals.
