Yamaha YP-D9 Turntable, Vintage (1978)

• This is a beautiful direct drive, quartz lock turntable with a unique zebra wood veneer.  This model is really getting hard to find these days, especially in good condition.  Here are my favorite features of this model:
• A very well made precision tonearm of the quality one expects from Yamaha
• An easy to adjust arm height, with a single large wing nut to loosen or tighten after you’ve made your height adjustment
• Unusual zebra veneer.  You don’t find many turntables with a finish like this
• A very heavy, solid cabinet to minimize unwanted vibrations
• A unique counterweight design, with an elongated sleeve that screws onto the arm.  This main counterweight should be fine for most headshells.  For really heavy headshell/cartridge combinations, an optional subweight is provided with this listing.

NOTE:  This listing does NOT include a cartridge.  The cartridge shown is a very nice Victor MD1016 with a brand new JICO stylus.  If you are interested in this cartridge, send me a message.  I have one in stock with a brand new  standard stylus (not the 4 channel one you see in the pics).

Note:  This item includes, in addition to the weighted tonearm sleeve, the optional sub-weight for use with heavy cartridges/headshells.  I added a pic for this. 

Condition

• Cabinet:  Excellent.  Only the smallest of minor blemishes
• Tonearm:  Excellent.  There is some stubborn dirt at the base. 
• Motor:  Excellent.
• Controls, buttons:   Very Good+
• Dust Cover:  Very Good+.  No major flaws and a very good sense of clarity. Some surface swirls and blemishes. 
• Platter:  Excellent.  Mat is excellent.
• Overall Presentation:  Extremely nice.
  
• Counterweights:  Excellent.  Note: There is a tiny screw on the optional subweight that is missing.  The subweight is a fairly tight fit, so the screw isn't absolutely necessary.

Because this particular model was made for the Japanese market, it runs on 100 volts.  This listing includes a brand new VT-100J 100W converter.

Shipping and Final Notes

If you have concerns over packaging, please take a minute to review my feedback comments.  I spend over $15 in materials per turntable, and take every precaution to eliminate damage.

Protective packaging will be applied, which will result in a heavier weight and larger dimensions.  For most destinations, I will double-box as well.    This will ship as 2 boxes, a large box for the turntable, and a smaller one for the 100V converter. 

Shipping is calculated for you using FedEx ground, but I may elect to use UPS Ground instead, depending on your location.  AK and HI buyers should check with me prior to auction end for a firm shipping quote.  International buyers are welcome; I use eBay’s Global Shipping Program and it has worked quite well.
