Welcome to  Antiques & Moore!

This listing is for a lovely 19th Century English gentleman's jewelry box with fitted interior, c. 1870-1880.

This attractive walnut box has a lift top that opens to expose a deep blue velvet interior with a fitted slot for holding an antique pocket watch and other men's fashion accessories. There is a drawer below with brass swing pull and has matching blue velvet bottom. Decorating the top/lid of the box are two fancy pierced and studded straps that are brass or bronze with an black finish (iron looking). The brass hinges are tight and the box opens and closes correctly. The locking mechanism is intact and included is a working key. Box sits on a stepped base with rounded corners.

Measures 5 3/8" high, 7" long (at top), 8" long (at base) and 6" wide (at base).  The opening for the pocket watch is 2" in diameter (inside). Weighs 2.3 pounds.

This nice box is in very good to excellent Estate condition with no the only noted issue being that the key hole cover is missing and the velvet covered side are missing on the interior pocket watch holder platform. There are a couple of minor no-harm cracks on the front rounded wooden corner panels. The interior fabric is clean and in good condition.
