MOUNTAIN BIKE ACTION Review: MARCH 09 ISSUE:

" CRANKSKINS PROTECTIVE WRAPS
For any rider who rubs his crankset the wrong way
Crankskins are a protective film for riders who hate seeing their beautiful
cranks rubbed raw after a few months of riding. A set of Crankskins goes for
$18.99.
Tech features: This simple product sticks to your cranks, giving them a protective
coating that either keeps them from getting scrubbed or covers up the
scrubbing you’ve already inflicted and makes them look new again. The guys
behind Crankskins keep their cards close to their vests, so don’t expect them to
tell you the adhesives they use or the specification of the vinyl used for the protectors.
That’s their secret. Crankskins are available for all popular cranks,
including the Truvativ HammerSchmidt. There are well over 100 colors and
graphics to choose from. We recommend wearing sunglasses when you visit
their website to avoid being blinded. It is wild.
After the thrashing: We stink at applying graphics, but we didn’t have any
problems applying our Crankskins. We removed the pedals and cleaned the crank
surface with rubbing alcohol. Once dry, we removed the backing and applied the
sticker. If you goof, it is easy to peel it up and try again. Our Crankskins melted
onto Shimano XTR cranks without visible bubbles or bumps. A month of riding
in all types of weather didn’t cause any edge to
peel up, and the Crankskins still look new. The
company also offers protectors for fork sliders and
frames. This is a cool product for riders who want
to keep their bikes looking sano or for a team or
club who wants their bikes to stand out. The
hardest part about using Crankskins is picking
the color or pattern out of the hundreds that are
available."

CRANKSKINS wrapping the world one crank at a time!

Crankskins are not made of Helicopter Tape or Shelter Tape.
Helicopter Tape and Shelter Tape have properties similar to Crankskins, but they are not Crankskins.

* We recommend that you use HEAT (blow dryer) to apply this product.
This will make it much easier to apply around curves and will remove fold lines from packaging and shipping.
