This is a 11" x 12" Original and Vintage color pencil on paper by the Philadelphia painter and illustrator Natalie Harlan Davis, 1898-1988. Davis was a member of the Plastics Club of Philadelphia. The image shows the toy section at a department store with a mother with children in tow, a woman at the counter to the right and big balloons overhead. Signed at lower right. Fine condition. Unframed.

Natalie Harlan Davis, 90, an artist who had lived in Reston since moving to the Washington area in 1971, died Feb. 18, 1988, at the Fairfax Nursing Center in Fairfax after a stroke.

She was a member of the Potomac Valley Water Colorists.

Miss Davis studied at the Philadelphia College of Art and the Academy of Fine Arts, both in her native Philadelphia. She was an artist with the Bronx Botanical Gardens, the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and the University of Illinois.
