Welcome to Antiques & Moore!

This listing is for a one-of-a-kind novelty paperweight made by a father as a special gift for his daughter in 1875. The paperweight is hand blown and decorated internally with pink glass canes bearing a banner reading "Father * Daughter, Alice O'Brien on 26th Birthday, Aug 19th, 1875" floating above cobalt blue canes in a cone shape. This was most likely made by a glassblower at the end of the day using left over glass to create this personal gift for his daughter. The presentation is hand written on a white glass banner/plaque insert placed inside the paperweight during the production process. The top of the paperweight is flat to make facilitate viewing of the presentation.

Measures 2 1/4" high and 3" in diameter. Weighs 1.7 pounds.

This nice paperweight is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws although there is the expected rubbing on the bottom edge.
