The Original and Best iSpindel Smart WiFi Hydrometer deluxe parts kit

~*~*~ A fun, fulfilling DIY project with all components and instructions included ~*~*~*~

See the progress of your fermentation in a regularly updated live chart over the internet without the need to use a traditional floating hydrometer.

The device free-floats in the brew, it's angle changes with the density (gravity) of the liquid as fermentation progresses, and it regularly uploads angle and temperature via WiFi to your chosen web service (free) allowing you to see a live graph wherever you are. The angle of floating can be calibrated to density using a known sugar solution. The device is fully sealed, easily sterilised and floats in the fermentation vessel from start to completion, so no need to keep opening the vessel, which risks infection and allows in oxygen.  A huge improvement on using a traditional floating hydrometer, which can let infection and oxygen into the fermentation vessel and wastes time and wort.  When the angle stops changing fermentation is complete.

Allows dry-hopping, lagering and bottling to be consistently timed to perfection.

This is a DIY kit of parts for a fun, fulfilling project, and is not an assembled working unit.
Some electronics and computer skills are required to complete, and all steps are described in the supplied instructions. You will need to be able to follow the circuit diagram (see listing pics) and construct it on the prototype board.

Full instructions by the inventor (not me) and community support can be found here :
search github for universam1 and iSpindel for details of the project and iSpindelbreadboard for circuit construction

Please read thoroughly to ensure you have the required skills before purchase.

Similar to the commercial TILT hydrometer which retails for £140.

Also interfaces with brewpi and the brewfather brew control systems and the BrewSpy app available on Android play store.

Recharging the battery is via the USB socket on the charging module which is part of this kit (please add a message when ordering which connector type : micro or C you prefer otherwise micro will be sent)

The listing includes the following parts :

    • XXL Petling container
    • Improved 3D printed sled which holds all parts in place in the tube (colour may vary)
    • 18650 Li-Ion battery (unbranded, approx 1500mAh, protected)
    • Battery holder
    • Wemos D1 mini wifi microcontroller
    • 3-Axis accelerometer module
    • Li-Ion charging board for charging via micro-USB or USB-C (please add message at time of order otherwise micro-usb will be sent)
    • DS18B20 Onewire temperature sensor
    • Bat43 Schotty Diode
    • Prototype board (needs cutting to size)
    • Resistors (4.7k = yell,violet,black,brown,brown  220k=red,red,black,orange,brown)
    • Switch
    • Wires
    • Heat shrink sleeving
    • Comprehensive 4 page colour guide to construction

This kit uses a XXL sized container, approx 39mm internal diameter at the neck and 160mm long.   The specially designed 3D printed sled perfectly fits the tube and holds all items securely in place.
You will also need a soldering iron, solder, insulating tape, some weights such as coins to adjust the angle of float, a PC from which to install the firmware & a bit of skill and imagination. The photos show a completed example - NOT INCLUDED, the remainder show the parts supplied in the kit plus my current beer progress appearing live in google sheets.

This is a kit of parts, not an assembled working unit, some electronics and computer skills are required to complete the project.  Unfortunately I cannot give detailed technical support but there is an active community on GitHub and Facebook.  Please contribute any lessons to this open-source project via GitHub.
