This all over print scarf design is inspired by the Make Do and Mend campaign. During the Second World War the Ministry of Information launched their Make Do and Mend campaign. This aimed to help the British public cope with clothes rationing by encouraging ‘household and clothes economy’. Posters and leaflets encouraged the women of Britain to get acquainted with their sewing machines and darning needles and repair and recycle old clothing.
