The watch comes with it’s own certificate of authentication which outlines the history of the Buffalo coin and that the coin used is an actual Nickel/Five cents coin which has been taken out of circulation, as well as a 12 month international guarantee!

Please Note: We sell several different coin watches, and have recently come across several similar coin watches on eBay and Amazon, that claim to be 'Collectors Items', 'Limited Edition', etc....please be careful when purchasing. These watches contain REPLICA coins, that would never have been used as legal tender. The coins are too clean, and lack detail, and some of the watches actually have the words 'replica coin' etched onto the back bezel. The sellers are not being clear that they are replica coins. The coins in our watches are absolute legal tender, 100% genuine coins, with certification.

The History of the Buffalo Nickel Coin 1913 ~ 1938

The Buffalo Nickel, also known as the Indian Head, or Five Cents coin, was officially released to circulation on March 4, 1913, and quickly gained positive comments for depicting truly American themes. Coins from the first bag to be released into circulation were given to President William Howard Taft and a group of 33 Indian chiefs during the groundbreaking for the National Memorial to the North American Indian located in Fort Wadsworth, New York.

Designed by artist James Earle Fraser, the Buffalo nickel features an Indian head profile on the obverse, or front, and the image of a buffalo on the reverse, or back of the coin. Instead of drawing from memory, Fraser used an assemblage of three chiefs, Iron Tail, Two Moons and Chief John Big Tree, who had previously posed for him. Similarly, the bison, Black Diamond, from Central Park Zoo was the model for the reverse. The coin took the United States from pre-World War I, through the Great Depression and to the beginning of World War II. Any coins found from circulation, are rare, and because of design flaws, most are hard to date without out destroying the integrity of the coin.

MEASUREMENTS

The bezel measures 28mm / 1.10 inches in diameter. Its a slim watch, with a case thickness of 7.5mm / 0.29 inch, and will fit wrists from 14.5cm/5.70 inch, to 17cm/6.79 inch round. It does have a little room on the strap for a few more holes, in case you want to go a little bigger or smaller in size. Weighs 26 grms / 0.93 Oz.

You have to actually handle it to believe how beautiful and great quality a watch this really is. Designer looks at bargain prices, .....but as the handling is not possible, just read our feedback and you will come to realise we do not sell rubbish goods!
