Vintage Retro Cultural Revolution Red Metal Alarm Clock, Waving Arm. Sent with Australia Post Standard.

Fully working clock and alarm, however, it doesn't keep proper time. It's about 6 minutes fast every hour or a couple or more hours off every 24 hours. I will try moving the lever in crescent shaped opening to left to see if it improves. Back metal is also a bit loose. More of a historical display piece, unless it can be made to slow down. Some of the red paint has chipped off and it looks like it was repainted in places.

There's other similar clocks, but this one is unique as has large red base which has white button to turn off alarm and I think a Chinese changeable calendar.

Retro alarm clock, made in China in 1960's (approximately). It was made as a propaganda piece during the Communist days of Chairman Mao or Mao Tse-Tung. Mao's face is shown near the centre of the dial. Below are a group of ardent communist supporters of Mao, all wearing the typical Mao suit. One woman has an arm that moves backwards and forwards as the clock ticks. She is holding a copy of Mao's "Little Red Book" in her hand and waving this backwards and forwards. There's a warp in the picture and a small scratch near centre of minute hand.

The clock has plain back numerals against this pictorial ground, with gold hour and minute hands. The hour and minute hands glow in dark so likely replaced original hands. The second hand is made of red plastic. This moves round while woman's arm moves, ticking off the seconds. There is a small window at the top of the dial to set the time for the alarm to go off. The body of the clock is made of red painted metal. It is attached to red metal base. The white button to stop the alarm is on the base. Chinese date(?) calendar is mounted on right with adjustable white Chinese writing. The piece above is a silver metal holder and piece missing.
