VERY EARLY ONE PIECE WOOD MORTAR~ CHIPCARVED

This is a unusual old wooden mortar. It is handcarved from a single piece of wood with a scooped out bowl for the pestle to crush the intended herbs, etc

It is well-worn with a beautiful waxed patina..

The design includes bands encircling the piece with chipcarving decorating them..

It has a handle incorporated into the carving with a break in the handle.

This is a true primitive piece and would definitely make a statement in your decor.

It has a handrubbed waxed patina.

The mortar measures approx 6" in tall X 5-1/2" diameter. 

The carved out hole measures 3" deep X 3" diameter. 

A really great early original authentic piece to add to your collection or decor.
