VINTAGE 1980s TUMI LARGE BLACK LEATHER BRIEFCASE BAG w/ HANDMADE STRAP R$898

My bags are the antidote for the poly-lined synthetic leather run-of-the-mill bags being produced in China. Most of my bags are full-grain leather; Artisan craft , with authentic distressed character, and many with modifications unique to our line. We only use high-grade men's belts for shoulder straps. This leather is reminiscent of equestrian leather halter straps. I also use half centimeter thick moose skin. Nothing wimpy here; quality and character that stands out and stands the test of a truly rugged lifestyle.

Invest in a bag that you'll love more and more over time. Not all leather bags are created the same. A great quality leather bag is supposed to look better with time as the leather acquires marks and age-related wear.

Make sure to check out my whole store. At the time of this listing, I have 180 items all unique and different. Many with added moose skin handles; my "trademark" unique idea. Once you have tried it you will wonder how you functioned before without an inside handle. Also on many of my briefcases, I add a moose skin handle wrap. The handle is the point of contact that the owner has with their bag and moose skin leather is so pleasing to touch.

What I love about this case:

It's a real Tumi from before they were really famous. They used full grain leather. They were just making their "mark" on the bag industry and their reputation for quality design made with quality materials.
The handle has a real retro "rope like" design; and is in very nice condition.
Case Stamped Made in ITALY and the Quick Release push button clasp also is stamped Made in ITALY.
Handmade Strap by Reederang in United States of America; I used antique brass lobster claw clasps and the belt also has an antique brass buckle so all the metal matches. :-) I was fortunate enough to find just the right men's belt made from exquisite durable yet flexible latigo leather to make a strap from. People write to me all the time and tell me that one of the best things about my bags is my repurposed belt straps. They are wide the whole length of strap and with no sliding pad to hassle with.
iPad Pro inside Zip Pocket fits even the largest ever 2017 12.9 inch iPad Pro. Would also fit a Microsoft Surface Pro just fine as well.
Lightweight (only 3 Pounds)
I added and vintage open-faced luggage tag. I was fortunate to find just the right open-face luggage tag. If you are a private person and don't want your address to show, do what I do and find a favorite quote that you like and put that on the back side of the blank identification tag, and your address and phone so it cannot be seen. You will have all sort of wonderful conversations with just the right quote.
As you can see in the photos the front of the 3 equally sized gusseted pockets has a secondary flap that secures either your laptop or important file folders while you access the other open two gusseted pockets; it is just a bit added security; a nice touch in design. Tumi has wonderful designers even today although the leather on a 21st century bag is very different and not built to last like this treasure is.
I like the retro silk cloth honey-comb pattern inside is great! It is definitely 1980s and not the bright orange found in many of the modern bags.

The measurements, in inches, are approximately: 16W x 13H (not including the handle) x 8 deep

This bag fits my iPad Pro 12.9 very nicely. Measurements of the 12.9 are in inches: 12.04 x 8.69 x .27 for your reference. No need to carry large rolling bags anymore. Now with our tech (tablets and small laptops) getting smaller, we can carry vintage style bags instead of the "run-of-the-mill" bags being produced in the 21st century.

One final this I want to say in full disclosure: The inside is really clean and the only "defect" that can be seen is along the back side of the gusset closest to the back - there is bit of clue that has aged and showing. Nothing really worth noting for those of you who buy classic pieces like this but for the first-time vintage-buyer I thought I would mention it.

I have this bag listed as a man's bag. But to a woman who is looking for that vintage rugged look, this would be perfect.
