Recently acquired from a rural estate is this 1946 Federal ORIENTAL chest radio with Chinese or Japanese motifs in gold on the front, sides and top. This is a rare and seldom seen set and this particular example is an absolutely untouched original -  finish, paint, chassis, structurally – the bracket feet and skirt make this even more convincing when closed  -  disguised as a diminutive storage chest in old weathered black with 19th century decoration. The cabinet is just 15 ¾” in length x 12” high and 9” deep – as mentioned, the condition of all is great. The front slides out to play– and smoothly slides back out of sight when not in use. The radio is excellent with round gold Oriental grill on red background, slide rule dial, 3 correct original buttons and gold flowers with a butterfly off to the right.  The tubes light, I get some buzzing and a touch of reception but it will likely require service – but it is alive and strong. As a small country chest with OLD, weathered black paint, soft gold tracery and bracket feet – this is a charming and delightful object – all the Oriental decoration and it is even sweeter. However, it is primarily a radio and maybe the most interesting one to come my way in quite a while  -  found in a rural Pennsylvania estate – this will require oversized boxes etc - buyer pays 29.95 safe bubble shipping, Insurance and tracking EAST of the Mississippi – ***NOTE*** shipping is 39.95 WEST of the Mississippi
