Genovese basil is very popular for its use in Pesto and Insalata Caprese. It is a variety of Sweet Basil that is less likely to become bitter after long periods of cooking. It's also less likely to bolt which stops the growth of the basil plant

This heirloom is also known for it's medicinal traits. Medicinally, oil of basil has been commonly treated for a variety of issues such as the common cold, cough or sore throat, depression and anxiety, and also insect stings and bites
