One packet of more than 200 seeds.

Viola tricolor. Johnny Jump Up Violet. Wild Pansy. Annual, biennial or short-lived perennial. Mixed colors and forms.

These violas will flower in the first year and then self-sow for years to come. The make striking accents, in light shade or filtered sun, in the vegetable garden, rock garden, or perennial border. Their expressive purple and yellow faces appear in early spring. Trim finished flower stems, and plants will bloom again in late summer and into autumn.

Seeds are collected in 2022 from plants in the pictures, and others, grown in our gardens in Edmonton, Canada (zone 3, to -35C).

Seeds should be sown soon after they are received or stored cold and dry. Sow in late winter/early spring in pots or trays outdoors (under snow cover if available). Seeds can be sown indoors, but if germination does not occur after four weeks, give the seeds a cold period (cold stratify them in a moist medium or storage material), outdoors or in the refrigerator, for 4-6 weeks. They should then germinate readily at room temperature or in spring warmth. Further instructions will be included with the seeds.
