DIYScience : Malt Extract Agar (MEA) Petri Dishes x6
(Sterile, Vacuum sealed & Ready to use)
Malt Extract Agar is used as a general purpose growth media
to isolate and cultivate yeasts, molds and fungi from clinical samples, as well
as a wide range of environmental sources.
Malt Extract Agar is designed to contain the proper
formulation of carbon, protein and nutrient sources essential for yeast, mold
and fungi growth. Dextrose is added to the medium to provide a carbon and
energy source for fungi. Additionally, our Malt Extract Agar contains digests
of animal tissues (peptones) which provide a nutritious source of amino acids
and nitrogenous compounds for the growth of mold, fungi and yeasts. The pH is adjusted
to approximately 5.5 in order to enhance the growth of fungi and to slightly
inhibit bacterial growth commonly found as environmental contaminants.
All our agar medias are sterilised by autoclave and prepared
aseptically in category 2 ULPA laminar flow cupboards in a commercial
laboratory conforming to ISO 14644 Part 1 class '5' standards. Each 90mm petri
dish contains 22ml of malt extract agar which is transferred via aseptic
serological pipetting techniques, insuring each petri dish is uniform, level
and free from imperfections.
As a result we can guarantee the highest quality, contamination
free plates.
We are also proud suppliers to industry and diagnostic labs
and conform to all reverent ISO standards.
This product is vacuum sealed to maintain sterility and
prolong shelf life. The petri dishes are packaged in convenient 6 plate packs.
Our vacuum packaging allows storage at room temperate for up to 3 months,
providing the packaging is intact. Once opened, for best results store in a
cool environment/fridge (2-8°C). Do not freeze.
