One item is an individual Oil Pencil of the Faber Castell Polychromos line, any color you like of 120 radiant breakproof blendable lightfast colors.

Despite the common wisdom saying that 'free shipping' is better, there's no such thing as free shipping, really; it gets baked into the item price.  So that means I usually offset that by offering quantity discounts.  However the architecture of the site doesn't let me do that for over 4 pencils so the result is not-so-great pricing for people looking to restock on 6 colors they need, say.

Good for me but bad for artists who frequently need to restock on more than 4 colors ;)

So I'm trying a new framework where shipping is separate, AND EACH ADDITIONAL PENCIL SHIPS FREE!

If you are buying multiple types of pencils from my store, shipping is STILL flat rate: so if you want some each of Prismacolor Premier, Prismacolor Col-Erase and/or Polychromos, please feel free to add them to cart and request an invoice, or if that does not work, contact me to adjust shipping manually.

As for handling time, that's in reality from Same Day to 5 Business Days depending on how close your order is to 'shipping' day.  If you need your pencils in a hurry (something I totally understand) please drop me a line and I'll do my best to accommodate you.

While Polychromos have strong shatter-resistant 3.8mm thick leads that are SV-bonded inside premium cedar lacquered casings, your pencils will be packed in the same shockproof packaging that I use for more fragile varieties.

About the Pencils:

Faber Castell Polychromos are ideal for professional artists, as well as enterprising aspirants who will benefit from a medium that can deliver both buttery soft blends and chisel-tip hard lines, in a full spectrum of highly blendable colors that will not fade with time.

A stunning range of 120 colors from the sunny Cobalt Yellow to velvety Red Violet, and verdant Permanent Green to oceanic Indanthrene Blue ensures there’s no limit to where your vision can travel.

The most exotically colored lifeforms, brightest stars, earthiest rockscapes, deepest oceans, and the furthest reaches of your imagination are all at your fingertips with these translucent colors that deepen and blend smoothly with layering, without ever looking murky or producing that dreaded filmy wax bloom on the surface of your art.

Lightfastness:

102 of the 120 Polychromos colors are rated as ***: lightfast for over 100 years,

16 are rated **: lightfast for between 50 to 100 years,

and 2 are rated *: lightfast for 15 to 50 years.

120 colors have been marked with the correct lightfastness on the color photo, and indicated with asterisks alongside color names for your convenience.

From the Manufacturer:

Polychromos Color Pencil

- Features & Benefits

Polychromos, introduced in 1908 - derived from Ancient Greek words "poly" and "chroma" meaning "many colors" is a protected trade mark of Faber-Castell.

The Polychromos Color Pencils are comprised of vegetable oil, wax and the highest quality pigments with superior lightfast characteristics and brilliance.

There are minimal amounts of wax used so that there is no waxy bloom produced. The pencils are acid-free, water-resistant and smudgeproof.

There are no harmful pigments used.

All products are certified non-toxic by a board certified toxicologist.

The pencils are round in shape, contain thick 3.8mm leads and are housed in premium cedar wood.

Marks can be 90% removed with a soft eraser.

Polychromos® Artists' Color Pencils are available in 120 colors that are part of a unique color matching system - encompassing all Faber-Castell Art & Graphic products.

They contain the highest quality pigments for unsurpassed lightfastness, which is rated on each pencil. They have a buttery smooth color laydown and can be easily blended for layered effects, highlights and transitions.

Thick 3.8mm leads are break and water-resistant, smudgeproof and provide permanent, rich color. Provides sharp fine lines and excellent point retention.

Voted 2019 and 2020 Colored Pencil of the Year In their first annual Colored Pencil Awards in 2019, COLORED PENCIL Magazine subscribers voted for their favorites across nine categories including favorite Artist, Drawing Surface and YouTube Channel.

Our Polychromos Pencils were voted as their favorite! Faber-Castell is honored to have received the award for a second year in a row in 2020. Recommended Surfaces for Polychromos Color Pencil Recommended surfaces include: sketch paper to high-quality drawing paper, drawing cardboard, transparent paper and colored paper in dark shades including black.

Polychromos Color Pencils adhere to many rough surfaces too, such as wood, stone, leather and metal. The pencils are permanent, adhere firmly to their background and do not require fixing. Fixing could cause lower layers of color to bleed through to the surface.
